Amalia Fourhawks hand made Plains Indian ceremonial dance necklace
Amalia Fourhawks hand made Plains Indian ceremonial dance necklace. Plains Indian jewellery is not my forte, but this gorgeous ceremonial necklace made me look twice. That, and the fact I knew that it was made by a native American Indian and not some sweat shop overseas. For those of you not familiar with the name Amalia Fourhawks she is of Apache decent, while her husband is Mohawk and Cheyenne. They have an art studio in Massachusetts, but spend most of their time on the road at various Native cultural gatherings and Pow-wows. They also work in pottery and clay as well as making traditional jewelry such as this piece. The striking colours are what drew me to this necklace. The white background of the bone is set off nicely by the brass cones and deep cobalt of the beads. It is strung on white leather with tan spreaders. It is very pleasing to the eye and could be worn for any occasion. Length varies between roughly 24-18 depending on how you tie the knot. Width about 2 and weight 167.2g. Long plains Indian ceremonial necklace. Deep cobalt blue beads. Soft leather tied closure allows for adjustable length. Brass fluted beads with leather spreaders. Lots of different length bone beads. Not bells but they still make a good noise when dancing. If you wish to use another method please ask first. Txzj pxzj1238 txzj-11 txzj103 txzj115.
