This Item: Vintage Navajo silver and turquoise squash blossom necklace with hand-made fluted and smooth beads. Measurement: Length of beaded necklace (hook to clasp) = 24. Naja dimensions = 2-1/2″ x 2-1/2″. Fluted bead diameter = 11 mm, smooth bead diameter = 8.5 mm. Drop length (including naja & bale) = 15. Each blossom plus turquoise = 2-1/8. The turquoise stones average about 1/2″x 3/8″. Weight: 153.5 grams 4.9 troy oz. Hallmarks/Stamp : Not stamped or hallmarked – a crude’D’ is scratched on back of naja. Condition: Very good vintage condition – no damage. Stones are all in great shape & tightly set. One stone has a tight hairline as can be seen in a couple of photos. Comments: The silver beads are hand-made rather than bench beads, and the whole necklace is strung on fox-tail cable. Very attractive turquoise with good color (I believe the stones are not treated or stabilized). My guess is this necklace may have been made in the late 1940’s or 1950’s. Elegant vintage Navajo silver squash blossom pendant necklace. The beads vary quite a bit from one another since each bead is hand made. The patina is dark, deep, and rich; really wonderful. Its wearable length measures 22 inches. The beads measure around 1/4 inch across. The dangling squash blossom pendant with the single bead above it dangles 2 inches off the rest of the necklace. The spring clasp is not silver, it may also be a replacement clasp but if it is, it was replaced a long time ago and is a very old one. This piece is unsigned. The squash blossom has one small dent on it, this might actually be from the time of making since it is right on the line where the round part of the squash blossom was soldered shut, and you can see it in the detail pictures next to my fingernail- it does not stand out on normal viewing. There are also a couple of tiny, very insignificant dings on some of the beads, just a normal sign of wear for a very old piece like this, and they are not visible on normal viewing. Up for sale is a vintage southwest squash blossom with natural turquoise and handmade bench beads. It measures 26 long including the hook and eye clasp. The hand made bench beads are all about 9mm wide or 3/8. There are some with dents and one is smashed. At the terminals there are 4 smaller beads on each side. They measure 7 mm or 9/32. There are a total of 10 squash blossoms on this piece, 5 on each side. They measure 1 3/4 ” long x 3/4 “. They have natural turquoise in them that measures approx. They are set into a saw tooth bezel with twisted sterling wire surrounding them. The naja measures 2 3/4 ” x 2 3/4 “. There are 5 natural turquoise stones mounted on the naja. Four of them are 1/4 ” x 1/4 “. The center one is 3/8 ” x 3/8 “. They are also set into saw tooth bezels and surrounded by sterling twisted wire. The turquoise is a robin egg blue color. Condition is very good. All of the stones are in perfect shape. Weight is 134.9 grams. Not signed, tested sterling. Pictures are also part of the description.
