On today’s market there are oxidized sterling beaded necklaces that people are calling “Navajo Pearls” & are nothing but a machine made oxidized sterling bead & then there are ones that are made entirely by the hands of Navajo silversmiths. These are the latter & what would be called “AUTHENTIC” Navajo Pearl Bench Beads. “Real” Navajo Pearls take on an extremely labor intensive lengthy process & are much more valuable because of the time that goes into making them & are’artisan made’ rather than by machine that are made by commercial manufactures… One way to tell the difference is, Authentic Navajo Pearls are validated by the beads not having quite the same exact milometer size, you can also see it in the seams, as well as by’eye’. Making these beads the’Old School way is what Sandra’s about. Just like her ancestors before her, she chose the path they laid out by making these one by one! These are true old style Navajo bench beads that are made completely by the hands of Sandra who puts blood sweat & tears into each strand. Depending on how big a milometer bead Sandra wants, determines the size of the circle, that she then cuts, domes, solders 2 together, then buffs the seams of each one down so you don’t see a line of demarcation where the two1/2 beads meet. This is made in a 11 mm range size bead, with a given length that is not too short, nor too long, which makes it a nice even length, where if you added a pendant, it wouldn’t sit too high on the neck, nor dropped too far away that it’s not noticed. Sandra’s beads are always left with a heavy oxidation, which gives them a phenomenal look & will compliment many pieces made with this same finishing. This finishing is great if you don’t want to spend your days polishing sterling, so there’ll be no need to pull the polishing rag out with these! They are deliberately left completely darkened, with just a tiny sliver of silver showing, together. Navajo Pearls have to be the best’Go-To necklace, since they are neutral for the fact that you can wear them with an all sterling collection to one with colored stone!
