Authentic Hand Made Native American Flute, Yazzie Wolf, Key of F# with FREE Bag
Authentic Native American Flute, Key of F#, poplar and mahogany This is a large flute and not all people can comfortable play a flute this long so see the chart below. Hand made by well known artist Marvin Yazzie Native American flutes by Marvin Yazzie are authentic hand made Native American flutes. More than any other flutes I’ve encountered these flutes are made using old traditionally methods. Each flute is made one at a time by hand, painstakingly shaped using a spoke shaver, and finally they are hand sanded and tuned to give each instrument a gentle sweet tone. Marvin Yazzie, a full blooded Navajo Nation Tribal member, and his wife Jonette were raised near Canyon de Chelly in the Four Corners area of Arizona in the small town of Lukachukai. The traditional ways of flute making were taught to them by a relative, W. Yazzie flutes are carefully hand crafted the traditional way and each flute is custom made. First the Yazzies select the finest wood available, then the flutes are made by hand, one at a time. Each flute is then painstakingly shaped using a spoke shaver, and finally they are hand sanded and tuned to give each instrument a gentle sweet tone. They are sealed inside and out with tung oil. Yazzie Flutes are known for their clear singing tone and they are played and enjoyed by thousands of people throughout the world. Yazzie flutes are also played by professional flute players Raven Longbow, ElkWhistle, Windwalker, Illari, Fernando Cellicion, Scott August and ethnomusicologist Ernest Siva. Each of his hand made flutes come with a “Getting Started” booklet and a soft fleece bag made for protection. Hear a flute in the Key of F#. Sound Clip 2 This is the “Wolf Spirit” in the key of F# is made of poplar for the body and endcaps of mahogany. The wolf totem is laminated mahogany and poplar. It is sealed inside and out with tung oil. This is a fun flute to play! Yazzie Flutes are known for their clear singing tone and are played by many professional flute players. Marvin is a full blooded Navajo Native from Northern Arizona. Yazzie flutes are carefully hand crafted the traditional way. Each of these flutes come with a “Getting Started” booklet and a soft fleece bag made for protection. Due to the nature of wood the coloring and grain pattern will vary slightly from the photos. Also the bags may vary in style. I love my Yazzie flutes. Each one has it’s own character and personality. They sound great live and in the studio. They sing with a clear, sweet, lyrical voice and are also very responsive to rapid tonguing effects. These are great flutes for both beginners and pros. They are easy to play and well tuned. The Yazzie’s love of flute making can be heard in every one of their flutes. They take great pride in their work and it shows. As an added bonus, Marvin and Jonette Yazzie are two of the nicest people I’ve ever met. Scott August, Native American Music Award winner 2005. Dear Marvin and Jonette, Thanks again for the valuable gifts of flutes recently in Tucson!! It was great to meet you and may you continue to delight the world with the soothing sounds of flute music. Kevin Locke, Flute player, Hoop Dancer, Educator. Yazzie flutes are exceedingly responsive and have a special “aliveness”. There is a wonderful tone quality which I believe comes from the hand-crafting of these special instruments. Don Walker, Native American flute Instructor. Yazzie flutes were a turning point in my flute experience. They have proved to be very consistent in their quality. I learned a lot about playing from using their flutes. Maybe, I started to play more after I acquired my first one. I first became aware of Yazzie Flutes through an acquaintance with recording artist Scott August. Scott was performing with a very striking flute made by the Yazzie’s. Afterward Scott allowed me to play the flute. It had a clear vibrant tone with good dynamic range. The flute was striking in appearance and had very friendly fingering for the player. Scott gave me the contact information and I immediately made contact to order. It was beautiful blonde redwood flute in F# with buffalo fetish and end caps out of walnut. I was so impressed I ordered a high B and a low C# to match. The workmanship is superior and the customer service provided by Jonette, Marvin’s wife was beyond compare. They are a wonderful team and now I consider them friends as well. I refer friends and circle members to their work regularly without hesitancy. They were very satisfied. I consider it an honor to have flutes made by the Yazzies in my personal collection. There is no greater recommendation that can be given to a maker than that a person owns and plays their flutes. Dan Ricketts the Noisy Bear. We thoroughly enjoy playing these flutes because they have an excellent tone and are beautifully hand made in the traditional Native American style. They are light, easy to hold and very easy to play. Marvin Yazzie placed the holes to fit our hand size for ease of fingering. When we took them to our flute circle our leader, who is a master flute player and instructor, said the tone of the flutes is exceptional. We are very proud of our Yazzie flutes. Sal and Shirley LeChuga. This B flute exceeds my expectations which were high. It is beautiful in tone and appearance. Scott [August] was right when he described the flutes on your website and his. Each does have its own personality. But, they all have some common characteristics: they are sweet and delicate in voice… Very lyrical and sensitive! They are very aesthetically pleasing…. Thank you for creating such quality “living” instruments. Such creative designing coupled with quality “little” elements like the fringe and the backpacking pressure stops on the draw cord. I have some heavier and possibly more durable bags, but none that seem to say: This bag was made with love and caring! Special “Thank You” to both of you for creating such wonderful instrument packages. Barry “Ninja Bear” Tambara. This is a large flute and not all people can comfortable play a flute this long. Mark down the tone holes from the chart below on a dowel or rolled up piece of paper to see if you can comfortably play this flute. F# Minor – 6 Hole. Poplar with Mahogany ends. A – 6 Hole. Redwood with Walnut ends. Mouthpiece to first hole.
