Native American Infant Cradle board Display A one of a kind hand crafted item by Brenda Smith, Jicarilla Apache Made from golden brown top grain leather (smooth) This is a full sized cradle board measuring 24″ in height (not counting fringed bottom or hanging strap) and is 13″ wide at its widest point Leather is attached to wooden backboard with round smooth brass upholstery tacks all around. Criss cross leather lacing in center. This cradle board features a fringed leather medicine bag along one side and a 3 leather wrapped hoop medicine wheel made with brass & bone beads on the other. Medicine wheel has a deer antler center and is adorned with 2 tin cones and additional brass beads and two domestic gray goose feathers. There are also 1 bone hairpipe & brass beads used as decoration on this piece (photo 4) and on each side of the cradleboard, there is a large white domestic turkey feather held in place by deer antler sections & stained wooden barrel shaped beads as further adornment. Over all hanging dimensions of this piece are 36 inches in length (including hanging strap and leather fringe at bottom) by 13 inches width The top of the cradleboard projects out approx. 8 from the wall. This item comes tagged with certificate of authenticity with artists census number. Although made as a typical cradleboard would be created for actual use, this item does not have the leather carrying straps typically found on the back of a cradleboard and was created specifically for wall display and has a leather hanging strap at the top for this purpose. New A solid well made, unique wall display. Cradle board weight is just over 4 lbs. A great gift idea for any collector of authentic Native American made artifacts. NOTE: bone beads are either domestic cow or water buffalo bone.
