This is a Lakota Sioux war shield. Made of bison back, covered with a brain tanned deer skin painted with natural ocher and depicting the sacred raven of the Lakota. From the crow we see rays of the sun that radiate it and give it strength. Decorated with feathers, horse’s mane and original Murano beads from the mid-1800s. It was bought by a European collector in the Pine ridge reservation, in the 80s. 18.5 inches tall (about 47 cm), check out the last photo to see the dimensions. Certificate of authenticity or any other kind of documents are not included. I managed to put these works together over the years with the help of the network that Ive created from my anthropological studies. Most of the pieces come from European private collections, and many have been part of my personal collection for some time.
