This is a very special drum that was hand made by Chief Klia of the Hoh Tribe in Northwest Washington. It was presented by Chief Klia in a ceremony that honored me and my staff for medical services and education provided to their tribe. Sadly, he passed away several years ago from a car accident and his son is now Hereditary Chief. It is a three piece set including a large hand made animal hide drum with striker/beater and tote bag. Drum: it is 17″ wide and 3″ deep. It is laced all the way around and has an attached braided handle for hand held use. The hide has shrunk a bit on one side (see photo #4). Striker/beater: It is 13 long and made from a very unique piece of twisted wood with a padded suede leather end. Tote bag: Made of heavy canvas in beige and dark green. It is 17″ x 24″ with handles and a pocket on the front. It has the Tulalip Tribal (Washington State). Logo on the pocket that reads “Healing Through Unity” Tulalip Tribal Journey 2003. I will make every effort to make sure you are a happy and returning customer.
