For sale is a wonderfully hand carved red cedar Tlingit mask depicting a dogfish. This mask features hand painted design, as well as copper accents and inlaid abalone inlays. The mask does have two small chips on verso, that also help to confirm legitimate age due to evidence of age discoloration and lack of artificial staining. There is also one piece of copper inlay that has popped out on one small corner on the brow, the nail that held it is still present and it would be an easy fix. Some staining/discoloration on the chin is present as well. Neither of the small areas of damage distract from the beauty of the mask for display purposes. The mask measures roughly 12″ tall by 8″ wide and is quite thick. There is two modern eye hooks on verso for hanging display. Please message me with any questions or if you have any information pertinent to the description/ maker. It is one of the finest mid century northwest coast native masks I have seen.
